1 dead in gang-related shooting in Miami Gardens, police say

Victim driven to Oaks apartments, pronounced dead

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – One person died Saturday night in a shooting in Miami Gardens, police said.

The victim was shot in the passenger seat of a vehicle near Northwest 183rd Street and Northwest Seventh Avenue, Miami Gardens police said.

The driver of that vehicle then drove the victim to The Oaks apartments at Northwest 183rd Street and Northwest 27th Avenue, where he was found.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The killing appears to be consistent with a gang-related shooting, police said.

Earlier in the night, an 8-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet in the same apartment complex in which the victim's body was found.

Both shootings are under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
