19-year-old woman shot in head while sitting in boyfriend's car

Someone in another vehicle fired during road rage incident, police say

MIAMI – A 19-year-old woman was shot in the head overnight while sitting in her boyfriend's car, Miami police told Local 10 News on Monday.

The shooting was reported at 12:10 a.m. in the area of Southwest 27th Avenue and 14th Street.

Police said the teen's boyfriend got into an argument with someone in another vehicle, and that the person began shooting at their car.

Police said the woman was shot in the head and was taken to Jackson  Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

No arrests have been made.

The shooting came days after an 18-year-old man was fatally shot while he was attending a wake for his friend in Overtown.

Police said Jedediah "Eggo" Scatliffe was shot in the area of 1645 NW Fourth Ave.

He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died.

Scatliffe's aunt, who lost her own son because of gun violence, said she has no idea who would want to kill her nephew.

"If you can invest your money into some cameras to catch a car that makes a wrong turn, why not invest in our kids. Our kids are dying out there," Tranell Harris said. "If we had some security cameras on the poles, maybe they could have caught that car tag that took some life of a young man that just walked across the stage (at graduation), and now my sister is hopeless, just like me."

Relatives said Scatliffe had plans to go to college in Tallahassee.

A motive for the shooting is unknown.

Anyone with information about either shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
