Man tried to crash into 2 police cruisers before fiery Miami Gardens crash, police say

2 injured in crash

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A South Florida man remains behind bars Monday, a day after he led police on a chase that resulted in a fiery crash in Miami Gardens, authorities said.

According to an arrest report, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop Sunday, but Bradys Balcinde, 38, of Miami Springs, refused to stop the gray Nissan Altima he was driving.

Police said Balcinde led Miami-Dade police on a chase and drove his vehicle toward a police officer's car twice, forcing her to move out of the way to avoid being struck.

Police said Balcinde also attempted to strike another police officer's cruiser with his vehicle.

Authorities said one of the officers was heading south near the intersection of Northwest 171st Street and Northwest Seventh Avenue when she collided with a black Infiniti.

"Once the police unit and the other vehicle collided, it redirected the police unit into the vehicle that was parked stationary at the light, which at that point, both vehicles caught on fire," Miami-Dade police Detective Argemis Colome said.

The officer was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, and the driver of the Infiniti was taken to Jackson North Medical Center. They are both listed in stable condition.

The driver of a third vehicle involved in the crash, a Cadillac SUV, was not hurt.

Balcinde was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding police and driving with a suspended license.
