Man steals pricey animal statues from Oakland Park antique store

Dog, lion statues among items stolen

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are trying to identify a man who was caught on surveillance video stealing pricey animal statues from an Oakland Park antique store.

The thefts occurred over two days in June at the Decorative Arts & Fine Antiques store on North Dixie Highway.

BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said the man stole a statue of a dog, weighing more than 100 pounds and valued at $800.

The thief returned the next day and stole a 5-foot wall planter worth $250 and a statue of a lion worth $600.

Detectives believe the same man is involved in other similar burglaries along North Dixie Highway in recent weeks.
