AAA employee fatally shot in Kendall

Police say Magdiel Hernandez, another man got into argument before shooting

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – An employee of the 24-hour roadside assistance service AAA was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon in Kendall, police said.

The shooting was reported shortly after 3 p.m. at 9955 SW 87th Court.

Miami-Dade police Detective Argemis Colome said officers arrived at the scene and found the victim, identified as Magdiel Hernandez, 38, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sky 10 was above the scene just after 3:45 p.m. as a man was being taken into custody. 

The man appeared to struggle with officers as they attempted to place him into the back of a police cruiser. He eventually sat on the ground and was later taken away on a stretcher. His identity hasn't been released.

Magdiel Hernandez was fatally shot during an argument with another man in Kendall.

 

Colome said the men were involved in a verbal altercation that led to the fatal shooting.

Hernandez was at the home for a service call at the time of the incident.

The unidentified man was taken to Baptist Hospital for medical care.

"This guy didn't start problems," Victor Cazanas, who said he is a friend of Hernandez, said. "He's a Christian dude, goes to church every Sunday. It's incredible. It's unreal it happened."
