Woman killed in Miami's Coral Way neighborhood

Detectives investigate murder in quiet residential area

MIAMI – A woman with burgundy hair was killed early Saturday morning in Miami's Coral Way area, according to the Miami Police Department.

Miami Police Department spokesman Rene Pimentel said the woman, who is in her 40s or 50s and appears to be Hispanic, was shot in the head several times.

"I heard three shots," Nidia Andrade said. "I was scared."

Andrade walked out of her house to find the woman dead on the sidewalk at Southwest 19th Avenue and 14th Terrace.

Police are still working to identify the woman who was killed. She was wearing a gold necklace, sneakers, a gray tank top and blue jeans. Her pockets were empty. Police added that the woman's thumbnails were grown out and polished with glitter. Investigators are hoping the distinctive description will help them identify the victim.

Detectives believe it was not a drive-by shooting or a robbery. They were asking anyone with information to call Detective L. Sanchez at 305-603-6350 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
