Police say driver lost control of car that crashed into tree late Monday night

Two people are in critical condition after this car crashed into a tree late Monday night in Pembroke Pines.

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A Hollywood man and woman are in critical condition after a car crashed into a tree late Monday night in Pembroke Pines, police said.

The crash was reported shortly before midnight in the 2200 block of North Palm Avenue.

Pembroke Pines police said the driver, identified as Natalia Cano, 21, lost control of the car near Taft Street, causing it to spin out and crash into the tree.

Cano and her passenger, identified as Blake Metz, 20, were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.

Police said speed might be a contributing factor in the crash.
