ShotSpotter alerts police to fatal shooting in Miami

Man pronounced dead at hospital

MIAMI – A man was fatally shot early Tuesday morning in Miami, police said.

The shooting was reported just before 4 a.m. near Northwest Second Avenue and Northwest 16th Street.

Miami police Officer Rene Pimentel said officers found the wounded man on the corner of the intersection. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His age and identity haven't been released.

Pimentel said ShotSpotter technology alerted officers that four shots were fired in the area.

A motive for the shooting was not immediately known.

No arrests have been made.
