Miami police officers search for 2 in Allapattah restaurant robbery

MIAMI – Two robbers in Allapattah were hungry. When they got to Tipico Hondureño Restaurant, they ordered two flour tortillas with mashed fried black beans known as "baleadas" and sat down to have lunch. But when they finished their meals, they decided to rob customers.

The two men walked up to a table of four customers about 3:15 p.m., Thursday at 3002 NW 7 Ave. One of the victims fought back, but one of the robbers had a gun and shot into the floor. The victims gave them all they had.

Officer Kenia Fallat, a spokeswoman for the Miami Police Department, said in a statement Friday that the suspected robbers fled in a gray or silver four-door Chevy Impala. They traveled westbound on Northwest 31st Street.

Fallat reported one of the suspects had a "NO EXCUSE" tattoo on the lower part of his arm. He had a black cast on his left hand. He is about 5-feet-6-inches tall. He was wearing a black T-shirt, black jeans and a black baseball cap.

Fallat reported the other suspect was wearing black earrings. Witnesses believed he was about 5-feet-8-inches tall. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a black baseball cap.

Detectives were asking anyone with information to call the department's robbery unit at 305-603-6370 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
