FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A 44-year-old man fatally shot another man as he sat on his porch after getting into an argument with the suspect's sister, deputies said.

Hubert Blount was arrested Tuesday night on a murder warrant in connection with the Aug. 8 shooting near Fort Lauderdale.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said Andre Thomas, 41, was sitting on his porch at 1190 NW 30th Terrace when Blount walked up to him and shot him multiple times.

Thomas was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Concepcion said Thomas had gotten into an altercation with Blount's sister earlier in the evening. She called her brother to tell him about it.

BSO's SWAT team later found Blount standing outside a utility room at 3951 NW 31st Ave. Deputies believe Blount had been hiding out there after the shooting.

Blount faces one count each of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
