Looting suspects arrested at South Florida gas station during Hurricane Irma
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A West Palm Beach man and two underage accomplices were arrested Monday after they were caught looting at a Palm Beach County gas station that was closed because of Hurricane Irma, deputies said.
Austin Johnson, 23, faces charges of burglary to an unoccupied structure during a state of emergency and grand theft.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera said deputies were called to a burglary at a Shell gas station in the 2900 block of Military Trail. When deputies arrived, they found the suspects helping themselves to cartons of cigarettes, packs of cigars and cases of beer.
All three suspects were arrested. Johnson was booked into the main county jail, while the others were booked into the juvenile jail.
