Mom fears son's 'abusive' girlfriend is going to get away with murder

BSO investigates shooting death of Alton Montina

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Francena Hicks still can't believe her 30-year-old son is gone. The distraught mother said her son Alton Montina was a victim of domestic violence.

Hicks believes Montina had been trying to break up with Satoya Johnson, when she showed up to his North Lauderdale apartment at 1411 Cove Lake Road and killed him Oct. 28.

Hicks said she knew Johnson had been aggressive with him before. Montina dreamed of working for the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Broward Sheriff's Office homicide detectives found him dead and questioned Johnson, but haven't filed any charges. Johnson admitted to having shot him, but Hicks fears detectives aren't taking into account the possibility that her son was the domestic abuse victim and not Johnson.

She was asking anyone with information about her son's death to call Detective John Curcio at 954-321-4212 or Broward Crime Stoppers 954-493-8477.
