Orlando man arrested in Turnpike road rage shooting

Troopers use surveillance video to connect suspect to shooting

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested an Orlando man on Sunday, accusing of him of shooting at two people in a road rage incident on Florida's Turnpike.

Kwanza Donald, 33, faces two counts of attempted murder after the incident in Lake County.

Troopers said Donald was driving a gray Toyota Camry about 10 a.m. Saturday when he fired a dozen shots at a Chevrolet Impala traveling southbound near mile marker 272. Troopers believed that road rage was the motive in the shooting.

The victims inside the Impala, Dexter Bernard, 37, and Lashey Bernard, 17, were wounded in the shooting. They were treated for minor injuries at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Along with the victims' account, troopers used surveillance video to connect Donald to the shooting. 

He is currently being held in the Lake County jail.
