Security guard shot at Hollywood Water Treatment Plant

Police say fellow guard wounded him after argument

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A security guard at the Hollywood Water Treatment Plant was wounded after another guard shot him Sunday morning, police said.

Hollywood police Officer Christian Lata said the victim was shot after the two men argued about 6 a.m. in 3400 block of Hollywood Boulevard. It's unclear where the shooting took place, but police said the victim was found near a guard station outside the treatment plant.

Officers took the suspect into custody for questioning, but he has not been charged, Lata said. The victim was transported to a local hospital. Police did not disclose the severity of his injuries.

Police placed a plastic bag where the victim was found outside the water treatment plant.

Officers confiscated the guards' firearms, Lata said.

Police did not identify the two men. Lata said officers are still investigating what caused the shooting.

The guards were contractors employed by Regions Security, Lata said. The company declined to comment on the shootings.
