Miami-Dade police identify men involved in suspected road-rage shooting

Authorities say Felix Valdes Jr. shot, killed Jason Giles during dispute

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police on Monday identified the two men involved in a suspected road-rage shooting off the Palmetto Expressway.

Police said the two men -- Jason Giles and Felix Valdes Jr. -- got in a dispute about 10 a.m. Friday while driving south on the Palmetto Expressway.

When their vehicles came to stop at the Northwest 25th Street exit ramp, police said, Giles, 31, got out of his tractor-trailer with a knife and approached a Nissan Altima driven by Valdes, 33.

Police said Valdes left his car and two began fighting. During the fight, Valdes took out a gun and shot and killed Giles, police said.

Giles was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers detained Valdes after the shooting, but he has not been charged in the case. Police said they were still investigating.
