NEW YORK – Jason Melo was found guilty of assault and coercion Friday after forcing the 22-year-old mother of his 3-month-old daughter to walk naked in a street, while he berated her on a video that he later published on social media., the Daily Mail and the New York Post reported.
The victim, who lived in Florida and is from the Dominican Republic, told the jury Thursday in tears that Melo tortured her for two hours Jan. 17, 2016 in Harlem.
Melo was upset after he allegedly found explicit messages from other men on her cell phone.
"He was saying many things, like I’m a whore, I could kill you right now, I’m capable of anything," the woman said in court, according to the New York Post.
The video of the abuse went viral. The woman said Melo saw this as an opportunity to sell T-shirts and hats with her picture and his quotes online. Melo faces up to seven years in prison.
