Miami abduction suspect taken into custody in Miramar

Javier Cardenas found sitting in chair at Haven Lake Estates community center

MIRAMAR, Fla. – A man accused of abducting a woman in Miami was taken into custody Wednesday morning in Miramar, police said.

The abduction stemmed from a domestic dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend in Miami's Allapattah neighborhood early Wednesday.

Miramar police said the victim was found inside a white Chrysler 200 in the Haven Lake Estates. She was not injured.

Miami police identified the suspect as Javier Cardenas. Police said the 30-year-old was taken into custody without incident at the Haven Lake Estates community center.

"We found the man sitting in a lounge chair just outside the community center," Miami police spokeswoman Officer Kenia Fallat said.

Police said the couple has a history of domestic violence. Cardenas has faced drug and other charges in the past.

"We still don't know what charges he does face," Fallat said. "We do know that fleeing is one of them."
