OPA-LOCKA, Fla. ā Detectives were searching for a dually dark pickup truck late Thursday night afterĀ a shooting left one man dead and another seriously injuredĀ in Opa-locka.Ā
Witnesses said they saw the victim's white Nissan MaximaĀ speeding southbound on Northwest 27th Avenue before coming under the hail of gun fire nearĀ Ali Baba Avenue. The victimās car crashed into a second vehicle. Investigators saidĀ theĀ man and theĀ child inside were not hurt.Ā
"It sounded like a high-caliber weapon, and when I came out, I saw one person on the floor and the other car had already hit another car," ZainĀ Maniar said.Ā
Opa-locka Police ChiefĀ James Dobson said one person was pronounced dead at the scene.Ā The Opa-Locka Police Department later requested the assistance of the Miami-Dade Police Department's homicide bureau, to assume the lead role in the investigation.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said the other victim was atĀ Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
A witness' cell phone video shows the chaos and paramedics rushing one of the two men to the hospital in critical condition. The second man was found dead inside the car.
Loved ones were atĀ the sceneĀ distraught. Detective Lee Cowart saidĀ theyāre searching for a third vehicle which may belong to the shooter.Ā
