Victim shot multiple times in northwest Miami-Dade

Mother says man shot in legs, groin, among other places

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was shot multiple times Monday morning in northwest Miami-Dade County.

The shooting happened before 3:30 a.m. near Northwest 46th Street and Northwest 23rd Court.

According to family members, their loved one was shot 17 times and was undergoing surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

The victim's mother identified him as Terrence Reeters.

Family members said Reeters was shot five times in one leg, six times in the other and once in the groin, among other places.

"He got hit in the kidney, he got hit in the groin, some of his intestines had to be taken out. He's going to have to fight," Reeters' mother, Linda Lindo, said.

While Reeters fights for his life at Ryder Trauma, police are fighting for answers. When they arrived to the scene, they found him lying in the middle of the parking lot.

"He could have died if I wasn't out there," Reeters' nephew, Leon Robinson, said.

Robinson said he rushed out of the house and to his uncle's side after hearing the shots.

"All he was saying was that it hurt, which is true, but he was going in and out," Robinson said.

The shooter is still at large.

"They shouldn't have done this to my son. He ain't ever hurt nobody," Lindo said. "They shouldn't have did this to my son."

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
