MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – One man is dead and another was hospitalized after a drive-by shooting Saturday evening, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Salisha Williams is desperate for answers after her boyfriend, Marquel Brooks, was shot dead. The 32-year-old father was one of two men shot Saturday night, both victims of a drive-by shooting.
"He's texting me. Next thing you know, I pulled up and he's there laying down," Williams said. "Like, how did this happen so quickly?"
Miami-Dade police said they arrived at 7:20 p.m. to NW 44th Street and 24th Avenue. They found two men with gunshot wounds. One of the men was rushed to the hospital, but family members said Brooks died at the scene.
"They took a good person away from me, away from society. It don't make sense," Williams said. "Just for him to walk outside his door and be gone? That's crazy, man."
Williams said Brooks spent the day watching their son's junior league football game and had come home not long before the shooting.
"Only thing Marquel do is go to work Monday through Friday. Saturday, he's at football. Sunday is family day," Williams said. "That's it. That was his life."
She also said their child and Brooks' three other stepchildren were inside the house when he was killed.
"This has got to stop. It's got to stop," Williams said.
