MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The northbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway were shut down Monday morning after a rollover crash involving a Florida Highway Patrol trooper.
According to the FHP, the cruiser struck a parked, unoccupied pickup truck that was being used by construction workers in a lane that was closed.
The cruiser struck the rear of the pickup truck and overturned several times, but Trooper Marcos Varon walked away with just minor injuries. Troopers said he was wearing his seatbelt.
Varon was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center. No construction workers were injured.
The Palmetto Expressway was shut down starting at Northwest 58th Street for several hours.
