POMPANO BEACH, Fla. ā Quantez Baker, a 20-year-old convicted felon, was on probationĀ when he was involved in a drive-by shooting targeting his fatherĀ Friday in Pompano Beach, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.Ā
Detectives said surveillance video showed Baker drivingĀ a gray Mercedes-BenzĀ GL 350 luxury sports utility vehicleĀ by a home near the intersection of Southeast 25th Avenue and SoutheastĀ FifthĀ Street.Ā Baker's father wasĀ in the front yard.
"He drove up to a residence where his father was at with a friend and shot at him, at least six to eight, possibly up to 10 times, with a rifle, from the driver's seat of the vehicle," Detective TimĀ Metz said.Ā
No one was injuredĀ and Baker sped away from the home, BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said.
"Detectives believe the motive for the shooting may have escalated from an argument over money," Carter said.Ā
Deputies are searching for Baker on charges ofĀ attempted murder, aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting a missile into a dwelling.Ā
Baker's probation over charges of carrying a concealed firearm and ammunition, grand theft with a firearm and grand theft of a motor vehicle was set to endĀ Nov. 23, 2021.
