Elderly woman crashes SUV into AT&T store in Miami Gardens, police say

Driver apparently mistook accelerator for brakes

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – An elderly woman crashed her SUV into an AT&T store Friday in Miami Gardens, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 5644 NW 167th St.

According to police, the SUV first struck three parked vehicles before driving straight into the business.

"When I looked in there, the car was inside -- like 40 feet inside. It looked like a dealership showroom," said a man identified as Juice, who owns a nearby barbershop.

No description found

Police said it appears the driver accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes.

"The lady was sitting there, like -- she was pale. She looked like she was shook up," Juice said.

Police said the woman was cited for careless driving.

Authorities said no one was seriously injured.
