Yacht catches fire in Aventura

Firefighters battle flames coming from yacht docked at marina

AVENTURA, Fla. – Flames engulfed a yacht late Thursday night near the Turnberry Golf Course in Aventura.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue dispatched about three dozen units and a helicopter to a marina off the intersection of North Country Club Drive and Northeast 34th Avenue.

A man told Local 10 News he called 911 when he saw the flames coming from the marina along a canal.

Some residents in the area said they feared a man was living on the yacht that caught fire, but Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said there were no injuries.

The charred remains of the yacht were still there Friday morning.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
