Fire burns for hours at Miami Gardens home

2 adults, 1 child treated for smoke inhalation

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. ā€“ A home in Miami Gardens erupted in flames Tuesday morning.

Sky 10 was above the house at 3441 NW 174th St. at 11:45 a.m. as Miami-Dade firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, but heavy smoke could still be seen coming from the structure.

By 3:30 p.m. firefighters were still working to extinguish the fire, which authorities said was difficult to extinguish due to clutter inside the home.Ā

"It's just straight flames. It isn't going out yet," one neighborĀ said.Ā

"There was large amounts of clutter in the home, all of which was combustible, and it made it just impossible for our firefighters to gain access to where the fire was at," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Kirsten Miller said.Ā

Authorities said one adultĀ was taken to a hospital and treated for smoke inhalation while a child and another adult wereĀ treated at the scene.

"There were threeĀ individuals either just outside of the home or inside of the home at the time of the fire," Miller said.Ā

Miami Gardens police blocked off the streets in the neighborhood to keep nearby residents safe.

"I live next to it. Ā As a matter of fact, my door is right next to the house. So yeah, I am worried," Ileana Acosta said.Ā

Neighbors said the homeowner works as a roofer and it may be his supplies that wereĀ fueling the flames.

"It has got to be supplies," Acosta said. "I just saw fire coming out. There has got to be something there that is sparking more fire."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.Ā
