Castro meets with Venezuelan foreign minister

HAVANA, Cuba – Cuban Communist Party Leader Raúl Castro and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met with Venezuela's Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza and Venezuelan ambassador to Cuba Adán Chávez on Monday in Havana. 

In a statement released by the Venezuelan government, Arreaza said his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez, welcomed him ahead of the ALBA-TCP, or the Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of Our America – Treaty of Commerce of the People, on Tuesday in Havana.

Last year's ALBA-TCP meeting happened in Managua, Nicaragua. Rodriguez tweeted the ALBA-TCP council had reaffirmed the commitment of cooperation between the 10-member countries. 

Aside from Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, the list of ALBA-TCP members also includes Bolivia, Dominica, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadinez, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia and Saint Kitts and Nevis. 

Arreaza also visited the University of Computer Science in Havana and said Venezuela is on the offensive and ready to surprise imperialism, Granma reported on Tuesday afternoon.
