FWC investigating cause of crash on Intracoastal Waterway

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Four people were taken to a hospital Sunday morning after a boat crash in Fort Lauderdale, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Tyson Matthews said.

The FWC got the call shortly after midnight of the accident in the Intracoastal Waterway near Bokampers Sports Bar & Grill.

Four people were taken to Broward Health Medical Center with unknown injuries.

"One of the boats, they didn't have their headlights on, and they had like a head-on collision with the other boat, and the guy fell off and he hit his head," Gabi Downey, a witness to the crash, said.

Another witness said they saw several bottles of alcohol inside the boat, but it's not clear if alcohol played a role in the crash.

The ages of those people injured have not been made available.
