Body found in canal along Florida's Turnpike

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A body was found in a canal along Florida's Turnpike in Hollywood.

The body was found Thursday afternoon near the northbound lanes between Hollywood Boulevard and Griffin Road.

Divers removed the body from the water as firefighters, police officers and fire-rescue personnel waited in the emergency lane.

It was unclear how the body was discovered.

The Florida Highway Patrol and Hollywood police were investigating.

Traffic was backed up for several miles during the investigation.
