3 thieves caught on camera stealing rims, tires in Miami

Victim says some neighbors targeted previously

MIAMI – A Miami woman said her vehicle's wheels were stolen recently, and she's far from the first in her neighborhood to become a victim of such a crime.

"This is the kind of thing you see on TV and in the movies. It is just unreal it is happening at my front door," the victim, identified only as Mercy, said.

Mercy said three thieves were captured on her surveillance cameras stealing her tires and rims.

The thieves showed up at her home about 3 a.m. Tuesday in two vehicles, one a silver Infiniti.

The crooks used a flashlight to inspect the rims and tires. Mercy said her special locking lug nuts didn't seem to be an issue for the thieves.

"There are wheel locks on the car and it didn't deter them one bit," she said.

Mercy said others in the area have been targeted by the wheel bandits.

"I know they hit a neighbor across the street a few blocks over and in the last month or so there were two other cars in the other direction that also got hit," Mercy said.

The three men managed to get thousands of dollars in rims and tires off the car in about 10 minutes, leaving only some lug nuts and the Mercedes-Benz C300 on blocks.

Mercy said she and her neighbor's work hard and she doesn't want somebody else to become a victim.

"I am not afraid to show your video. I am out to get you the same way you got me," Mercy said. "I am not going to let you ruin my day, but I sure as heck am going to try and ruin yours."

Anyone with information about the thieves is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
