$9K in cash, guayaberas stolen from store

2 burglarize Guayaberas Etc in Coral Gables

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Cameras caught burglars breaking into a Coral Gables store and stealing $9,000 worth of cash and guayaberas.

Burglars broke into Guayaberas Etc on Coral Way after midnight Friday.

"The girl's there. The guy throws the rock the first time. Nothing happens," the store owner told Local 10 on Tuesday. He asked that he wasn't identified.

In surveillance video, the burglars use a large rock to smash the front door. The male burglar, dressed in a red hooded sweatshirt, then kicks in the rest of the glass door and goes on a shopping spree.

He starts with the cash register, then grabs Cuban coins and other memorabilia. He leaves behind a sandal.

"I definitely want them to get caught," said the store owner.

Next, a woman enters and grabs about 20 top-of-the-line, handmade guayaberas.

"Absolutely, definitely, we will take a totally different measure and approach security wise when we close at the end of the day here," said the store owner. "It hits you in the heart."

Anyone with information on the burglary is asked to contact Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305- 471-TIPS.
