Police said Murphy visited 10 restaurants in Stuart from Sept. 15 to Sept. 26 and complained of finding glass in her food after eating most of her meals.

According to an arrest affidavit, Murphy confessed to police that she carried the glass in her purse and would intentionally put them in her meals, purposely cutting her mouth.

Many of the restaurants wound up paying for the meals or offering gift cards and free food to make up for the incidents.

Police said Murphy told them she got the idea from someone she knew in rehab.
