Doorbell camera captures crooks who stole birds from Pinecrest home, police say

4 birds stolen from home Sunday

PINECREST, Fla. – A doorbell camera captured two thieves this week who police said stole several birds from a house in Pinecrest.

The burglary was reported about 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the 7500 block of Southwest 112th St.

According to an incident report, the homeowners left their house at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., only to return a couple hours later to find that their birds were missing.

Video shows an older man and a young man ring the doorbell at 10:55 a.m. and try to open the door when no one answered.

Police said the duo proceeded to the back of the home, where they used a tool to cut a bar off the metal gate.

Police said the men rummaged through the couple's garage and took three bird cages containing four birds. The stolen birds include two Lady Gouldian Finch birds, one love bird and one finch bird.

Police said the men used the side laundry room door to leave with the bird cages.

Anyone with information about the men's identities is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
