Family asks public for help in finding gunman who shot victim in driveway of Miramar home

Gavin Bromfield, 24, killed Aug. 3 during robbery, police say

MIRAMAR, Fla. ā€“ A South Florida family is pleading for the public's help to find the person who gunned down a 24-year-old man last month outside his family's home in Miramar.

The shooting was reported about 3:40 a.m. Aug. 3 outside 7151 Alhambra Blvd.

Gavin Bromfield's family is demanding justice and hoping his killer will be caught.

His brother broke down crying Monday at Miramar police headquarters, where he talked about what he missed most about his brother.

"(He was a) friendly guy, good kid and didn't give anybody any trouble," Bryan Bromfield said.

The family is asking for people to come forward with any information they might know about the case.

A family friend donated money, bringing the reward up to $8,000.

"He's not here with me," Bromfield's mother, Monica, said. "I can't touch him, I can't cook for him, I can't wash his clothes anymore. He's not in the house and it's devastating."Ā

Police haven't said much about the case, including whether anything was stolen from the victim other than his car.

The lack of information coupled with their loved ones' death has taken a toll on the family.Ā

"Gavin was loved by all of us. It's really hard and very difficult, even now," his cousin, Howard Rye, said. "His loss is hurting us real bad. We are all still trying to hold each other up."

Police said Bromfield was robbed in the driveway of his home.

His Lexus was stolen and was later found abandoned a few blocks away.

Bromfield's brother heard the gunshots and found him bleeding in the driveway.

"We believe it happened really quick. We don't know if there was any confrontation prior to the shooting," Detective Hector Bertrand said.

Police do not know whether Bromfield knew the gunman.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
