Handguns, assault rifles stolen from car in Southwest Ranches

Witness records man breaking into car outside Publix

SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. – Davie police are searching for a man who burglarized a car over the weekend, getting away with multiple firearms.

According to Sgt. Mark Leone, a witness filmed the man about 3:20 p.m. Saturday breaking into a car outside a Publix at 15801 Sheridan St. in Southwest Ranches.

Leone said multiple handguns and assault rifles were stolen from the gold Volkswagen.

The thief is described as a black man, who is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 300 pounds.

He was wearing a shirt and tie and khaki pants at the time of the burglary. He was also wearing black gloves and removed the license plate from the VW.
