Man busted on drug, weapon charges after reporting home burglary

More than 38 pounds of marijuana found inside home, deputies say

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A Deerfield Beach man was arrested Thursday on drug and weapon charges after he reported a burglary at his home, authorities said.

According to an arrest report, deputies were called about 10:30 a.m. to Anthony Black's home, in the 1200 block of Southwest Sixth Terrace, about a burglary in progress.

Deputies said Black, 32, claimed that he saw a white male in his backyard, running and jumping over a fence away from his home.

Black's home alarm had also gone off, authorities said.

Deputies went to the back of the home and saw a closed door with a broken window.

Authorities said the deputies went into the home to see whether any burglars were still inside, but instead found two large, plastic bags of marijuana.

A search warrant was obtained, and authorities said they found more marijuanaĀ inside the master bedroom, master bathroom and a spare bedroom.

Below is a list of the items authorities said were seizedĀ from the home:

-5,148 grams of cannabis from the spare bedroom

-7,608.6 grams of cannabis from the master bathroom

-4,575.1 grams of cannabis from the master bedroom

-A GlockĀ model .22-caliber handgun with a magazine from the master bedroom

-$1,273 in cash from the master bedroom

-$1,942 in cash from Black's vehicle

The total weight of the marijuana seized was more than 38 pounds, the arrest report stated.

Authorities said Black told deputies that he has lived alone at the house for about four years.

Black was arrested and taken to the Broward County Main Jail. Ā
