Man fatally shoots woman's son after argument, police say

Suspect returns to southwest Miami-Dade home with gun, shoots victim, police say

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man shot and killed another man after an argument at a southwest Miami-Dade County home Monday morning, police said.

The shooting was reported at a home on Southwest 102nd Avenue.

Miami-Dade police said Clarence Williams, 60, a woman and her son, identified as Johnny Eugene Brown, 39, were at the home when Williams and Brown got into an argument.

Police said Williams left but later returned with a gun, fatally shooting Brown.

Williams fled the scene but was later arrested.

A family friend told Local 10 News reporter Carlos Suarez that Williams is dating the woman who owns the home.

He said Brown and his mother moved into a room in the back of the home and got into an argument with Williams about money.

He said the mother and son locked themselves in the room, but Brown was shot after opening the door.

"She was standing there with her son when he got shot. She (tried to) block it, but she couldn't, so he got shot in the face."

The man said that Brown and his mother were very close.

Another man who lives in the area told Suarez that Brown was well-liked in the community.

"He was a god dude, you know," the man said. "He liked to help the community. He was well-known around here."

Police have not confirmed the motive behind the shooting.

Williams faces a first-degree murder charge.
