Man rescues naked woman after sexual assault in Miami's Brickell

Detectives search for man accused of sexually assaulting woman

MIAMI – A man said he allowed a panicked naked woman who was asking for help to get in his car early Saturday morning in Miami's Brickell neighborhood.

The area in Brickell, which has restaurants and bars, is busy on Friday nights. City of Miami police officers were investigating a sexual assault there.

The man, who did not want to be named, said he gave her his T-shirt when they were near the Brickell Deli Market on South Miami Avenue. He said he drove around to find City of Miami police officers and asked for help.

"The victim approached one of our officers who was working an off-duty job in the area and asked for help," City of Miami Police Department spokesman Christopher Bess said. "The officer relayed the information for patrol units."

City of Miami firefighters covered her with a blanket and took her to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Police officers were searching for a man who was wearing a black hoodie and fled southbound on South Miami Avenue.

As of 10:25 a.m., police officers hadn't made an arrest in the case.

Detectives were asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
