Surveillance video shows man pistol-whipping woman on Collins Avenue

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A man accused of pistol-whipping a woman during a robbery in Miami Beach appeared before a judge Sunday.

Nigel Gainey, 23, is accused of pistol-whipping a 24-year-old woman who was walking on Collins Avenue. The robbery was captured on surveillance video.

Police said Gainey stole the woman's purse, getting away in a waiting silver Nissan Rogue.

The woman's injuries were so severe that she needed stitches to close the wounds.
Gainey was being held without bond.

Detectives were asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
