Miami police search for man who pointed gun at officer

MIAMI ā€“ Miami police are searching for an armed man who pointed a gun at an officer before running away.

Officer Kenia FallatĀ said the incident happened in the 900 block of Southwest Fourth Street early Tuesday when the officer was backing up another officer at a non-violent call.

Police said the officer saw a man in the area who was shirtless but was carrying a shirt that had a bulge. The officer asked him what was in the shirt and ordered him to approach his car with his hands up.

Police said the man dropped a gun and narcotics that were under his arm.

The officer began to pat down the man, but he pushed away from the officer and pulled out a second gun that was tucked in his waistband, police said.

According to authorities, the man pointed the gun at the officer and then ran away.

Police recovered one gun and called in SWAT and K-9 units to search for the man. Fallat said the man was wearing blue shorts and no shirt.

The search was called off after several hours.
