Thief snatches money from man's hand at Pompano Beach ATM

Sudden snatching captured on surveillance video

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Broward sheriff's deputies are searching for a thief who snatched money from a man's hand outside a bank in Pompano Beach, authorities said on Tuesday.

The robbery was reported at 3:15 p.m. March 27 at a Sun Trust Bank branch at 1409 E. Atlantic Blvd.

Deputies said the victim noticed a man walking up to him holding a gray jacket over his left hand.

Deputies said the man stood close to the victim and asked for $20. The victim refused.

Newly released surveillance video shows the thief snatching money from the victim after the withdrawal was complete.

Deputies said the man ran away after the sudden snatching.

Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call Detective Victor Carrasquillo at 954-321-4208. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
