Tow truck driver accused in fatal Davie hit-and-run crash

Fadel Thelisdort says he left because he didn't know what else to do, police say

Fadel Thelisdort admitted to fleeing the scene of a crash that killed a pedestrian in Davie, police say.

DAVIE, Fla. – A Hollywood man was arrested Saturday after he struck and killed a woman with the tow truck that he was driving, police said.

Fadel Thelisdort, 32, faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

Davie police said Thelisdort was driving a tow truck on State Road 7 when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road while the tow truck had a green light.

The driver didn't stop, but witnesses identified the tow truck as being white with red lettering on the side. Police determined that the tow truck belonged to A441 Towing, and truck parts found at the scene matched missing parts from the truck. Police said blood and skin were also found on the truck.

According to a police report, the owner of the company identified Thelisdort as the driver of the truck.

Police said Thelisdort turned himself in and admitted to leaving the scene. According to the report, he told police that he left because he didn't know what else to do.
