Uber driver carjacked in northwest Miami-Dade

2 found with victim's personal possessions arrested, police say

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police arrested two men Thursday after an Uber driver was carjacked in northwest Miami-Dade County.

The incident was reported about 5 a.m. in the area of Northwest 32nd Avenue and 67th Street.

Police said the driver picked up two men who robbed him at gunpoint as he was dropping them off and took off in his vehicle.

The driver, only identified as Zay, said he picked up the men in the Opa-locka area.

"I grabbed the barrel of both of them," Zay said. "Next thing you know, they're pointing them at me, so I'm just spreading them out so they don't shoot."

Zay said one of the men yelled at the other to shoot him, but he ran off and they drove away in his 2014 Chevrolet Impala.

Police said the car was found at 14201 NW 14th Drive.

Three men who were found near the car were interviewed by detectives, two of whom were placed into the back of a police cruiser.

The Uber driver identified both as the men who robbed him and police said the men were found with some of the driver's personal possessions.

The suspects were identified by police as Dave Petit-Homme and Deontay Bivins, both 19.

"You do the crime, you do the time," Zay said. "You know, they could have killed me."

Zay was not injured during the carjacking.
