Woman armed with grilling fork attacks firefighters, police officers say

Barbara Rojas, 49, faces charges after calling 911, attacking responders

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ Barbara Rojas called 911 to report a medical emergency. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed to the home she directed them to in Miami-Dade County's South Miami Heights neighborhood.Ā 

Firefighters said when they arrived at the house at 20101 SW 115 Ave., near Southland Mall, they found Rojas was angry and ready to attack.

Rojas, 49, was holding a stainless steel grilling fork with a black handle, according to a police report.

Firefighters grabbed the fork, took Rojas to the ground and called police. Firefighters said they had been to her home before, and she was known for calling 911 with false reports.Ā 

Rojas is accused of also attacking police officers with the fork. Records show she was booked Friday night at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

She faces charges of making a false 911 call and two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer or firefighter.Ā
