LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Lauderhill Capt. Jerry Gonzalez said a 30-year-old pregnant woman lost it all in a fire on Monday and she was desperate for help.
She is due to give birth in just three weeks, and firefighters worry that after taking Nicola Taylor to a hospital where she was treated for smoke inhalation, she won't be safe.
"She had one previous full term pregnancy in which the child died hours after birth," Gonzalez said.
With the help of the Red Cross, Taylor stayed at a motel in Plantation for two days. But on Thursday, Taylor will be homeless.
Among the things she lost were the gifts she received from friends who hosted her baby shower on Saturday -- also her birthday. She didn't have renters insurance.
Gonzalez was asking anyone interested in helping her to call 954-628-5824 or donate to this GoFund Me account.
