South Beach hotel owner accused of stealing Mango's towels arrested

Mitch Novick, owner of Sherbrooke Hotel, faces burglary, petit theft charges

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ The owner of a South Beach hotel has been arrested on burglary and petit theft charges, just two days after a neighboring business owner accused him of stealing towels from his nightclub.

Sherbrooke Hotel owner Mitch Novick was arrested early Friday morning and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

His arrest comes after Mango's Tropical Cafe owner David Wallack provided Local 10 News with surveillance video that Wallack claimed showed Novick stealing dirty towels from the neighboring nightclub.

Novick told Local 10 News that he borrowed the towels, but a Miami Beach police report said that Wallack didn't give Novick permission to enter his property or take any towels.

Wallack also told police that none of his employees or managers gave Novick permission to remove any towels.

According to the police report, Wallack provided surveillance video from two different occasions in July that showed a shirtless Novick walk inside Mango's storeroom and walk out with a handful of towels.
