MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was shot to death Friday morning by her aunt's husband outside a southwest Miami-Dade County home, police said.
The shooting occurred shortly after 8 a.m. at a house in the 15000 block of Southwest 307th Street.
Miami-Dade police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said officers arrived and found the 21-year-old woman dead.
A view from Sky 10 showed a yellow tarp covering a body in the driveway of the home.
Family members identified the woman as Winnie Mendoza.
According to an arrest report, Mendoza and her aunt's husband, Stephen Fraser Myers, 44, of Homestead, had been involved in a secret sexual relationship for the past two years.
Police said Myers saw the victim as she was driving home Friday morning and followed her there.
When she got out of her car, Myers got out of his truck with a gun and demanded to know who she had been with all night, the report stated.
Police said an argument ensued and Myers shot Mendoza multiple times.
He then drove home and told his wife that he had shot her niece, police said.
Mendoza's uncle, Adrian Calderon, told Local 10 News that her mother-in-law found her body.
"We are a big family and we feel terrible," Calderon said.
Authorities said Myers left his home after telling his wife what happened but was later found by police.
According to his arrest report, Myers provided a full confession to detectives.
He faces a second-degree murder charge and is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
