Goodwill Industries of South Florida buying luggage in bulk

MIAMI – Miami International Airport will no longer auction off unclaimed lost-and-found luggage, instead selling the goods to Goodwill.

Goodwill Industries of South Florida agreed to a two-year contract allowing them to buy the luggage in bulk from MIA.

Workers found sunglasses, fine art, and an antique gun holder at the store off Northwest 21st Street in Miami on Friday.

Goodwill is using the proceeds to train and hire people with disabilities.

"For the people with disability problems, it can help with the money that we are making, it can help with more jobs," said Dina Hall with Goodwill.

"It's a win-win for everybody. were a non-profit and our mission is to train and employ people with disabilities," said Goodwill Vice President Lourdes de la Mata-Little.

You have 90 days to claim your luggage at the airport before it is sold at Goodwill.
