BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Boynton Beach police have released surveillance video that shows a car slamming into a 63-year-old woman and her son, who were standing at an ATM at the time of the crash.
The video, released Wednesday, shows Monday's crash at a Bank of America on Congress Avenue. Local 10 News has elected to stop the video before the car makes impact.
Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said the Toyota Camry went over the concrete parking stop and struck Diane Power, pinning her against the wall.
Slater said the woman's son, Thomas Power, 32, tried to run into an adjacent flower bed but was pinned underneath the car after it bounced off the wall of the bank.
The 81-year-old driver, identified as Louise Szakacs, was finally able to stop the car after it traveled back into the parking lot.
Both victims were taken to Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach with critical injuries. Slater said one of Diane Power's legs had to be amputated.
Szakacs was cited for careless driving.
