ORLANDO, Fla. – Authorities released the surveillance video showing the moment a camera's lithium-ion battery overheated and exploded Friday night at the Orlando International Airport.
The 5 p.m. scare in front of the security checkpoint for Gates 1-59 prompted an evacuation causing thousands of travelers to get off their planes, and go through TSA screening again.
The Orlando Police Department announced on Twitter that no shots were fired and no one was injured. Police said the lithium-ion battery had been inside a camera and packed in a bag.
According to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority 27 flights were diverted and 24 flights were cancelled.
