MIAMI – A city of Miami police officer was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center Monday morning after being involved in a head-on collision.
The crash involving two SUVs occurred in the area of Beacom Boulevard and Southwest Fifth Street.

Miami police confirmed that the airbags deployed in the officer’s vehicle and he sustained a busted lip and was complaining of chest pain.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and it’s unclear which driver was at fault.
Beacom Boulevard, between Southwest Fourth Street and Fifth Street, was shut down after the crash as detectives investigated.
